Mental Health First Aid for Youth

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training that equips participants to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12–18.

The training covers common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in this age group, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), as well as indicators of substance use challenges. Participants learn how to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis and how to connect youth with appropriate supports. Expanded content addresses trauma, substance use, self-care, and the impact of social media and bullying.
